Herts Year Of Cycling

Stevenage has over 45km of cycleways making it one of the best towns in the UK for travelling by bicycle. The cycleway network allows cyclists to ride uninterrupted by other traffic; crossing at major junctions and other convenient points through underpasses.

The majority of the town can be reached in approximately a 20 minute cycle ride. National Cycle Network (NCN) route 12 forms part of the Stevenage network connecting the town to Letchworth Garden City to the north in around 35 minutes and Welwyn Garden City to the south in 1 hour.

Cycling is great exercise and helps the environment.

Travel by Foot

Herts Year Of Walking

Robertson and Farnham House are within a 15 minute walk from the town centre, rail and bus station.

Walking is a healthy form of exercise and can be enjoyed by everyone. It generates no pollution, is free and a green way to increase your fitness levels, with low risk of injury. At an average walking speed you can cover a mile in 20 minutes.

  • Relax! Go at your own pace.
  • Access all areas! Take shortcuts that cars can't reach.
Health benefits

Walking and cycling are good for your health, can reduce the risk of many diseases and an excellent way of losing weight.

  • Walking is good for bones and muscles: helping your kids grow up big and strong.
  • Walking burns calories: in fact a brisk walk burns the same amount or calories as a run over the same distance!
  • Commuting by bike is cheap, green and one of the easiest ways to fit exercise into your routine.
  • Cycling is an ideal way for families to explore their neighbourhood and beyond.

Travel by Car

For those attending training at Robertson House parking is provided in the delegates parking located a short walk from the site and accessed via Bessemer Drive.
